What You'll Do:

The Procurement Lead will oversee and manage all procurement activities of this production unit to ensure cost-effective acquisition of materials, components, and services for manufacturing conveyors. The role focuses on leading the Local Materials Management Department (2FTE), supplier relationships, contract management, and inventory optimization to align with the company's production schedules, quality standards and cost goals.

The Procurement Lead is functionally related to the Global Materials Management Department (located in Zwaag, The Netherlands).

 

From the headquarter in The Netherlands, this department develops the global procurement strategies for materials and manages, supports and accelerates the performance of the Local Materials Management Departments worldwide.

Key tasks and responsibilities

Procurement Strategy

·        Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with production goals and business objectives. 

·        Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality and availability.

·        Be an active participant in a global focus group of peers whose focus is to ensure that selection of suppliers is according to the materials procurement strategy.

 

Supplier Management

·        Source, evaluate, and negotiate contracts with (overseas) suppliers for raw materials, components, and services. 

·        Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure timely delivery and adherence to quality standards. 

·        Conduct periodic supplier performance reviews and address any issues proactively. 

Material Planning and Inventory

·        Collaborate with production and engineering teams to forecast material requirements. 

·        Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock. 

·        Ensure just-in-time (JIT) delivery for seamless manufacturing operations. 

Cost Management

·        Monitor and control procurement and logistics budgets. 

·        Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to achieve the best value for the company. 

·        Continuously assess market trends and adjust sourcing strategies accordingly. 

Compliance and Risk Management

·        Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, ethical standards, and applicable laws. 

·        Identify and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, price volatility, and supplier reliability. 

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

·        Work closely with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to meet project timelines and specifications. 

·        Coordinate with logistics teams to manage inbound and outbound shipments efficiently. 

Reporting and Metrics

·        Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as cost savings, supplier performance, and on-time delivery. 

·        Provide regular procurement reports to senior management.

·        Update the article and supplier database in ERP to reflect the agreements made.

 

Authority Level

·        Instruct, coach and develop all staff working in the local department and report performance to the managers.

·        Contracting and procurement within the given financial space.

·        Replaces colleagues at Production Site Canton as needed.

Job requirements

Required skills and experience

·        Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. 

·        Additional procurement degree is preferable.

·        Proven working experience (+-5 years) as Procurement Lead or (Tactical) Purchaser in a technical assembly environment.

·        Strong negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers.

·        Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organizational abilities.

·        Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

·        Proficiency in using ERP software and tools. (i.e. Epicor, MS Office)

·        Proficient in English, spoken and written.

·        Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

·        Knowledge of conveyor systems and related components is a plus.
