Job description

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as an Afternoon CNC Laser Operator in the Internal Fabrication department at AmbaFlex. As a CNC Laser Operator, you will play a crucial role in producing raw, semi-finished and finished goods to support the operations of the other production departments within AmbaFlex Manufacturing's Canton, OH location. This includes cutting, forming, welding, machining and blasting of metal parts.

  • Monday-Friday, 2:30pm-11:00pm

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate the CNC CO2 Laser (Prima Power Platino 1530 w/4kW Convergent Laser)
  • Understands machine setup including program retrieval, proper gases, proper nozzles, and materials
  • Understands start-up and shut down for laser machines
  • Diagnose machining problems while performing jobs, making modifications as needed
  • Operate overhead cranes, tape measure, calipers, and hand tools
  • Can perform laser cutting operations efficiently and effectively, per specifications
  • Check Quality of product machined and notify supervisor of process issues
  • Operates and navigates in a windows-based computer environment
  • Program nesting software to maximize product/material usage
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Perform operator maintenance and/or 6S housekeeping per established schedules
  • Perform material handling functions, including loading material for job runs
  • Measure completed work pieces to verify conformance
  • Read work orders to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, locations of cutting lines, or dimensions and tolerances
  • Maintain shop, tools, and other equipment
  • Other duties as assigned

Job requirements

Basic Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in a similar position as CNC Laser Operator 
  • Minimum 1 year of CNC Laser experience in a sheet metal manufacturing environment
  • Documented training on CNC Laser
  • Proficient interpretation of engineering drawings
  • Familiar with various production and processing methods in engineering
  • Prior forklift experience is preferred
  • Must be able to lift 70+ lbs., stand on feet for 8 or more hours
  • CNC press brake experience is preferred


Education Requirement

  • High School Diploma or GED
